Are you on a low carb diet and missing your hot dog buns? Here is your solution and it is pretty easy to make, so it’s a win-win situation!

Low Carb-Gluten Free
4 hot dogs
3/4 cup almond flour
2 Tbs cream cheese
1 tsp xanthan gum
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 Tbs dried minced onion (optional)
2 Tbs poppy seeds (optional)
2 Tbs sesame seeds (optional)
1 tsp pretzel salt (optional)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and prepare a cookie sheet by lining with parchment paper.
Melt mozzarella and cream cheese in the microwave and stir to combine, be careful not to over cook.
Gradually add almond meal and xanthan gum, mix well.
Next add 1 egg and mix well. If you need to use your hands, it is best to wet your hands first to minimize the dough sticking to your hands.
Once mixed completely divide 4 ways and roll each section into a long pencil shape and wrap around a hot dog. (I personally used jalapeno flavored hot dogs for extra flavor, just remember to check your nutrition label on the hot dogs).
Once all of the hot dogs are wrapped, beat the remaining egg in a bowl and brush on to each hot dog.
Next is all of the optional toppings. In the picture above I used poppy seeds, sesame seeds, salt, and minced onion. You can sprinkle it on like I did, or roll the dogs in the dry ingredients. Or you can simply skip this step completely if you want to keep it simple.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Use any low carb/sugar free/gluten free dipping sauce you want.
